We coordinate every part of a child’s treatment journey so that families can focus on healing. Our work spans six connected programmes, delivered with hospitals, provincial health authorities, specialists, development partners and international organisations.
Child Transit & Accommodation
Temporary accommodation for children and caregivers travelling from rural provinces to Port Moresby for medical treatment.
Patient Referral & Case Management
Child identification, assessment, and coordination of medical referrals, specialist appointments, hospital admissions and follow-up care.
Family Support Services
Basic welfare support including meals, counselling, orientation and caregiver assistance during treatment periods.
Medical Outreach & Awareness
Community awareness programs focusing on early identification and referral of children with correctable medical conditions.
Overseas Medical Referral Support
Facilitating referrals for children who need specialised surgery unavailable in Papua New Guinea, through international medical partners.
Child Welfare & Protection
Ensuring all services comply with child safeguarding and protection standards.
How a child’s journey works
- 1
Identify
Community volunteers, health workers and hospital outreach flag a child who needs specialist care.
- 2
Assess
We coordinate specialist assessment at Port Moresby General Hospital and prepare the medical case.
- 3
Coordinate
Referrals, passports, visas, flights, accommodation and family support — all arranged.
- 4
Treat
Surgery in PNG, Australia or India through our partner hospitals and foundations.
- 5
Home & follow-up
We bring families home and stay in touch for follow-up care and reintegration.
Our medical partners
We work through accountable partnerships. Children First Foundation (Australia) and Medivisor India coordinate specialist surgery abroad under formal MOUs, while Port Moresby General Hospital provides assessment and follow-up at home.
